A hundred years’ continuous use of a bus depot now operated by Stagecoach is being celebrated with a special event.Stagecoach in Bedford is teaming up with The Omnibus Society for a Family Fun and Open Day at St John’s Depot in the town.

Buses have been operating continuously from the building since 9 August 1919, but its history goes back even further than that. St Johns in fact opened on 30 July 1913 as the most northerly outpost of the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC), but its Bedford operations ceased on 22 November 1914 when the building was requisitioned by the military authorities, who vacated it on 5 August 1919.
