Two major Norwegian operators have taken delivery of a combined total of 183 biogas and biodiesel-fuelled buses for operation in the city of Trondheim, Norway’s third largest city. The olive green-coloured buses have been in service since the beginning of August, and are split between operators Vy Buss AS (105 buses) and Tide Bus AS (84). The order is composed of: 12m Euro VI gas-powered single deck buses capable of running on biogas or natural gas; 15m long Lion’s City L LE biodiesel fuelled single deck buses; and two variants of 18m Lion’s CIty G articulated buses, featuring both biodiesel and biogas engines.

“We’re delighted that the two largest transport companies in Norway put their trust in us. The buses are powered with biogas or biodiesel, which means they fit in wonderfully with the quiet and natural environment in Trondheim – you just want to take in a deep breath of air!” said Rudi Kuchta, Head of Product & Sales Bus and Speaker Business Area Bus at MAN Truck & Bus.

The order also includes driver training as well as a service and maintenance contract, and builds on experience of previous MAN gas-fuelled buses in the city. In 2011, MAN delivered 12 natural gas buses to Vy Buss AS, and this latest order takes the number now operated to over 260.
