The largest ever Mercedes-Benz Tourismo order for the UK market will see Shearings Group take delivery of 38 Tourismo coaches this month. The high-specification coaches will comprise 23 Euro 6 12m Tourismo coaches being delivered in National Holidays livery and 15 tri-axle 13m Tourismos entering service for the first time in a striking new version of the Shearings Holidays livery.

Denis Wormwell, Chief Executive, Shearings Group, said: “This represents a significant investment for us – close to £10m. Working with the team at EvoBus and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services we have been able to tailor a package specifically for our business. We are really pleased with the presentation, comfort and safety standards of the new Euro 6 specification Tourismo and are delighted to continue working closely with the team at EvoBus following the delivery of over 200 new coaches over the last five years.”

The new Tourismos will have a phased entry into service over the coming weeks. For the Shearings fleet, their introduction will see the withdrawal of the last of the Volvos – with the result the Grand Tourer and Shearings vehicles will be entirely Setra or Mercedes-Benz products.

Asked by CBW if there is a split of the new Tourismos between the Grand Tourer and Shearings brands, and about the story behind the new Shearings livery, a Shearings spokesperson replied: “Further details on the new Grand Tourer livery and the investment will be revealed in the coming weeks.”

General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Coach Sales in the UK, Jonathan Prime said: “It is a pleasure to work with business partners who put customer satisfaction at the heart of everything they do. We too strive to provide our customers with the best products and services and are confident that the latest Tourismo models will deliver on safety, comfort, quality and economy.”
