Last Sunday saw the London Bus Museum’s annual Spring Gathering bus rally which is held at Brooklands in Surrey. The day dawned with low cloud and fog patches, and remained that way throughout most of the day, but the rain held off to allow the large number of visitors a good day out.
The misty conditions of the rally can be seen in this image. The banked race circuit at Brooklands, which dates from 1907, is also in view. RICHARD SHARMAN

As always, there was a good mix of recent and preserved vehicles present, and not all of them London based.
CBW’s Richard Sharman and Nick Larkin were in attendance and a follow up to the event will appear in the Industry Heritage section next week.
Arriva Southern Counties Wright Streetlite WF 1661 appeared at the rally in Arriva’s new, brighter livery and is one of the first to lose the green based low carbon livery. RICHARD SHARMAN
A rare vehicle seen arriving at Brooklands was Park Royal-bodied AEC Regal IV MLL 738, one of only 65 built for use on BEA work and operated by London Transport. The Half Deck body certainly makes it stand out. RICHARD SHARMAN
Brooklands Museum’s iconic Concorde G-BBDG was busy with visitors as London United’s Wrightbus New Routemaster LT1000 passes on service 462 to Weybridge. Will LT1000 be an iconic vehicle of the future? RICHARD SHARMAN
Leyland Royal Tiger Doyen E50 TYG was new to West Riding as its number 50 in 1988. It is seen arriving at the rally looking as if it had just been delivered from the factory. RICHARD SHARMAN
Midland Classic’s 69, an Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 that was new to First London as DN33623, returned south for the rally. RICHARD SHARMAN
