Concerns over the effects of lower sulphur diesel on classic vehicles means an investigation is being launched. The Federation of British Classic Vehicle Clubs agreed at its recent AGM to look further into the issue. The Federation also warns that classic petrol vehicles were not compatible with the new E10 fuel, comprising 10% ethanol. Older vehicles need to run on E5, also known as super unleaded, as E10 can cause deterioration of fuel lines and other problems. Various fuel additives are available aimed at reducing E10’s effects.
