Stagecoach has stepped in to take over a number of Arriva routes since that operator announced it was to withdraw services in the area. Stagecoach South already operates a number of routes in the Guildford and Surrey area, and also has depots across Hampshire and West Sussex.

Rupert Cox, Regional Director for Stagecoach South, said; “We’re delighted to tell passengers across Guildford, Woking and the surrounding areas about our new and extended network. It means residents and visitors will still be able to make their journeys, as well as new connections for our existing customers. It’s also great news for the local area, as we’re busy recruiting for drivers, cleaners and engineers, and investing in larger depot facilities in Surrey. We’ve also been working very closely with Surrey County Council to make sure parts of the bus network which are operated on their behalf will still run. We’re been pleased to be able to step in and support the local community and keep bus links in place across Guildford, Woking and beyond.”

Stagecoach’s new and revised routes start from Saturday 18 December and include services 1, 6, 34/5, 47, 53, 63 and 91.
