Alan Payling reports on a few coach journeys that will turn your hair white as he travels with drivers who appear to have passed their test on the dodgems
After my last article reviewing videos on YouTube about the UK’s coach trade, I’ve been looking further afield, and boy, is there some hair raising stuff out there. But first, a word of warning. When I tell you below about some of the coach journeys I watched, you are just not going to believe what I say about the utterly abysmal standard of driving that I witnessed. You might think that in one of the nations featured, given the country’s recent development, that coach drivers would handle their vehicles in a more, shall we say, professional manner, a là UK? No. Far, far from it. So before you consider watching these videos, if you are of a nervous disposition, or, you are liable to panic attacks, or, you have a heart problem, then please think twice before you do so. For thrill seekers, the larger the screen you watch them on, the more terrifying these ‘journeys’ will be. And if you know anyone that is going to these particular countries and they tell you they will be travelling by coach during their visit, I strongly suggest, and I mean by using all the powers of persuasion at your disposal, that you encourage them to watch these videos before they arrive. And finally, this is not a video game. Hang on tightly; very, very tightly. Welcome to the world of express coach travel in India and Bangladesh.
