Jonathan Welch catches up with Ember to find out about plans to grow its network and increase its appeal

Ember entered the Scottish inter-city coach market in autumn 2020 with its new electric service between Edinburgh and Dundee. Spearheaded by tech entrepreneurs Keith Bradbury and Pierce Glennie, the route – unusually numbered E1 in the southbound direction, and E2 northbound – operated using a pair of dark grey liveried Yutong TCe12 coaches, with two more joining the fleet in time for Glasgow’s COP26 in 2021. A further new vehicle order is set to give the young company a dramatic boost as it looks to make good on early intentions to launch new services beyond its initial corridor.
