New vehicles from operators across the country were part of this year’s Buses Festival alongside classic coaches and buses, reports NICK LARKIN
New vehicles as well as classics contributed to this year’s Buses Festival. Held for the first time at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire, the event attracted some 55 buses.
A major highlight for many was a talk by the interestingly attired Ray Stenning, in which he talked about his life, love for the bus industry and support for local identities – look out for an interview with Ray in an upcoming issue of CBW.
Voted best preserved coach was new to Whittle Burlingham Seagull-bodied 1957 Leyland Leyland Tiger Cub, PUJ 781. The title of preserved single decker of the show went to 1935 Southern Vectis Dennis Lancet, DL 9706, while the honour for best preserved double-decker was awarded to the Northampton Transport Heritage Trust’s 1946 Roe-bodied Crossley DD42/3 VV 9146.
