Propulsion systems manufacturer Allison Transmission will exhibit an electric axle from its eGen Power range at the forthcoming Euro Bus Expo, which will take place from 1-3 November at Birmingham’s NEC.

Allison’s eGen Power is a drop-in solution compatible with many existing chassis, and is designed to fit between the wheels of medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses, replacing the vehicle’s traditional powertrain. At the IAA Transportation trade fair in September, Allison announced a strategic joint cooperation agreement with Turkey’s leading bus and truck manufacturer Anadolu Isuzu, which will see Allison’s eGen Power 100S electric axles integrated into Anadolu Isuzu’s light-duty truck and midibus platforms for refuse, distribution and public transport applications.

The eGen Power 100S e-axle integrates a high-speed electric motor and a multi-speed transmission, eliminating the need for additional drive shafts and support structures, allowing it to fit easily between the wheels whilst leaving space for battery storage. With continuous power of 304hp (227kW) and peak output power of 437hp (326kW), Allison says the eGen Power 100S has an architecture tuned for high acceleration and high top speed without sacrificing efficiency.
