A 1972 Hartlepool Transport Bristol RE, which became a local legend as ‘The Santa Bus’ has had a narrow escape from being scrapped. OEF 77K spent 25 years in service with Hartlepool Transport and successor Stagecoach, donning a Christmas sleigh on its roof for the festive season.

After a later career as a mobile facility by East Yorkshire Age Concern, a spell with the Trent Valley Gliding Club as a clubhouse followed before locally-based enthusiasts set up a the Hartlepool Santa Bus Group (HSBG) to save and restore the bus in its home town.
