Alexander Dennis AD24
Besides the vehicles it launched at the show, Alexander Dennis announced improvements to its AD24 aftermarket digital capabilities, moving all of its technical publications and guides online to improve accessibility for aftermarket customers, and visitors to the ADL stand were able to get an exclusive look at the new AD24 online portal.
AD24 encompasses all of the Alexander Dennis aftermarket offer to customers, including spare parts, mobile technicians, service centres and expert training. The online platform is being invested in by the firm over the next 12 months to create what it says will be a world-class online portal for its full aftermarket services.
The AD24 website began as an online ordering portal for parts, which quickly progressed to housing over 300,000 available parts which can be purchased with next day delivery on the majority of UK orders. Additional online functionality has now been launched, including technical information for all new buses as well as buses up to eight years old, making it more convenient for customers to access a wealth of important information on their vehicles. The technical publications span the full catalogue of manuals for Alexander Dennis and Plaxton vehicles, as well as warranty and service information, part pricing and serial numbers, and exploded drawings.
Richard Jackson, Digital Strategy Director at Alexander Dennis, said: “Our online and technological capabilities set the AD24 aftermarket offering head and shoulders above the industry standard, and we have ambitious plans to propel this even further and make all aspects of our aftercare easier for our customers. As part of our investment in digital to have the best global distribution chain systems and aftermarket support, all of our technical manuals, specifications and guides for hundreds of vehicles are online for ease of access for everyone. They will also still be included in print with new vehicles.
“Work on the AD24 platform will continue into 2023 as it is developed into an online portal where users can access all of the AD24 aftermarket services, from booking training schools and ordering parts for delivery, to mobile service technician appointments. Our customer services phone line will remain for those who prefer to speak to a person but growing our online services gives more choice of communication to those who prefer to operate online as well as enabling customers to access some services 24/7.”
Allison Transmissions
Allison Transmission, manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for medium, heavy commercial, and defence vehicles, showcased its new electric axles at the NEC, Allison eGen Power.
The eGen Power 100D, introduced in 2020, features two electric motors, each capable of generating over 200 kilowatts of continuous power, with a combined peak power of 650kW. The 100D also integrates a two-speed gearbox into the centre housing, optimising the e-axle to allow high ramp-start capability when moving heavy loads while offering higher top speed and superior efficiency. This eGen Power model is capable of supporting a total gross axle weight of up to 10.4 tonnes and includes differential lock functionality.
Allison has expanded its dual-motor offering with the eGen Power 130D, introduced in 2021. The 130D is a variant of the 100D, designed for markets where many commercial vehicles require a gross weight of up to 13 tonnes per axle. The 130D retains the same core components, performance and values as the 100D, including the same power characteristics, but with a greater axle weight capacity.
The eGen Power family of fully electric axles are modular and designed for installation and easy integration into existing vehicle chassis. Allison’s portfolio of e-axle models has been developed to address the diverse needs of customers as they evaluate electric vehicle capabilities to meet the rigorous demands of the commercial vehicle market.
