A bus livery once a familiar sight in Aberdeen has returned as part of celebrations marking 125 years of public transport in the city. First Aberdeen has outshopped SN09 CDF, a 2009 tri-axle Alexander-Dennis Enviro500 in the green, cream and orange colours of its predecessor Grampian Regional Transport.
Further anniversary commemorations are planned, culminating in an open day at First Aberdeen’s King Street depot on 26 August, where there will be displays of buses old and new. On that date in 1896, Aberdeen Corporation Tramways began operations, the system continuing until 1958. By this time Aberdeen Corporation had built up a substantial motor bus fleet, which continued until 1975, when local government reorganisation saw operations pass to Grampian Regional Transport, which adopted the livery being recreated.
