SERBIA
Ten Solaris electric buses have hit the streets of Novi Sad, the first Serbian city to place Solaris Urbino electric vehicles into service.
The official handover of the 10 Urbino 12 buses to JGSP Novi Sad, the public transport operator in the city, took place on 22 June. Solaris delivered the vehicles along with their associated charging infrastructure. The buses will be charged using three pantograph chargers located at bus stops during the day, and at night will use five stationary chargers at the depot. The buses represent an investment of around €6 million and were financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The buses’ ceilings have been adorned with an interesting, modern pattern that reflects ambient light. LED lighting under the bus doors serves a practical function and facilitates passenger getting on and off the vehicle. They are fitted with Mobileye Shield+ to monitor blind spots and the Mirror Eye camera system instead of conventional mirrors. An alcohol lock is also fitted as an additional safety measure.
