Nick Larkin reports on a special event marking 40 years since the closure of the manufacturer’s Brislington factory

Transport Museum Wythall organised a special tribute to Bristol buses and coaches, marking 40 years since closure of the marque’s Brislington factory where chassis were made.

Bristols from the museum’s own collection and visiting vehicles were seen at the 8-9 July event. They ranged from VH 5541, Roger Burdett’s 1933 new to Norwich Omnibus Bristol GJW open topper, to 1974 former West Midlands MCW-bodied Bristol VR NOB 413M. A popular attraction on the museum’s bus services was EMW 284, a 1949 Bristol L6B new to Wilts & Dorset.
