FoKAB plans New Year running day

Traditional King Alfred buses will once again be providing free rides over their traditional routes around Winchester on bank holiday Monday 1 January courtesy of the Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB).

Taking advantage of the fact that there is little traffic around and since most of the usual local bus services will not be running, with the exception of the Bluestar’s route 1 to and from Southampton, the classic King Alfred buses will operate from the city’s Broadway over local routes, covering Weeke, Harestock, Stanmore, Oliver’s Battery, Winnall, Springvale as well as to Sparsholt and Sutton Scotney. Beyond that, some visiting buses will provide additional journeys to the historic town of Alresford, whilst an innovation this year will be a regular connection to and from Fareham, where the Provincial Society is running a similar event.
