Thirty classic buses face an uncertain future after a preservation group was given notice to quit its premises. Tyneside Heritage Vehicles (THV) must leave the site at Felling, near Gateshead, by the end of March.
“It’s the news that any group like ours dreads,” said THV director Lee McHaddan. “Felling has been our home for 14 years. We’ve always paid the rent and bills on time. Any attempt to negotiate has fallen on deaf ears.”
THV has the largest collection of former Tyne & Wear PTE/Busways vehicles anywhere, ranging from Leyland Atlanteans to Scania Metropolitans. Group and privately owned vehicles are currently accommodated.
