The Canadian manufacturer, now part of the Volvo Group, turns 100 in 2024, and is marking the event with a special heritage recreation of its first ever REO bus
North American coach and motorhome manufacturer Prevost is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024. The company was founded in 1924 in a small village in Canada, and has grown to become one of the continent’s major bus, coach and motorhome manufacturers, a long way from its first wooden-body coach, created by Eugène Prévost. “Eugène established a culture of continuous improvement, pride in craftsmanship and an unequivocal focus on quality, performance and safety,” said Prevost President François Tremblay. “The tenets he set down in 1924 are the ones we continue to follow in the 21st century.”
The early days
Eugène was known as an intrepid entrepreneur in Sainte-Claire, Quebec, who specialised in making church pews and school furniture. At the age of 21 in the midst of a global downturn, he developed a system of hydraulic turbines and batteries to generate his own electricity to keep his business running.
