The UK Coach Operators Association Annual Conference 2024 was held on Monday 4 March. Jonathan Taylor reports on the key topics of discussion

Our UK coach industry is evolving at a rapid pace and that pace is showing signs of speeding up even more following recent corporate transactions.

Good operators are attracting interest, not just from other operators. The bus industry is buying and so are various pure investors. There may be some more surprising deals on the near horizon. Consolidation is afoot and I am sure that new major players will emerge wanting a large slice of the contract and tours markets.

This was just one of the hot topics at this year’s UK Coach Operators Association (UKCOA) Annual Conference, hosted by Volvo UK Bus & Coach at its Warwick HQ.

In 2019 the London Tourism Coach Operators Association (formed 1976) morphed into the UKCOA with a new UK-wide remit representing coach operators providing UK and Europe travel solutions. This is truly an association purely for the coach industry. Many times during the day I heard complaints that the coach industry receives little recognition in Westminster and is poorly understood. The UKCOA is on a mission to change that.
