A policy of not charging admission to a museum’s running days is to continue following a highly successful event. The normal £5 charge was waived at the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum’s open day on 7 April, at which free rides on coaches and buses were available. Instead donations were invited, and the museum says the policy was a success.
“A lot of people in the local community are suffering financially and we wanted to provide an event for everyone to enjoy,” said chairman of the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society, which runs the museum, Steve Milner. “We had an excellent attendance at the April event and there was a good atmosphere. A lot of people gave donations and refreshments did very well.”
The policy is being extended to further special open days on 30 June and 27 October. There will, however, be a charge for the LVVS car running day on 26 August.
