Twenty classic buses took to the streets in south London recently for a London Bus Museum running day, reports Ray Ward
The London Bus Museum holds a number of running days throughout the year, in different locations in and around London, bringing classic and heritage vehicles back to the streets of the capital for enthusiasts and the general public to enjoy.
On Sunday 9 June, the museum organised a route 406 running day, with buses running between Kingston, Surbiton, Epsom, Reigate and Redhill bus station. Services ran from around 0900 to 1700hrs and used vehicles dating from the 1940s through to the 1990s.
There was a good selection of vehicles taking part, both red and green, old and new. Some 20 classic buses were present in total, and as well as the usual RTs and RMs there were more modern vehicles such as a Dennis Dominator from London & Country, a Leyland Titan and even a Dennis Dart. Although the weather was a bit chilly and gloomy it was still an enjoyable day out.
