Scottish inter-city electric coach operator Ember is launching a new Aberdeen service on 22 October, building on its existing Dundee to Edinburgh and Glasgow routes. The new Aberdeen service will see the operator’s existing Edinburgh-Dundee frequency doubled, and north of Dundee
will offer stops in Forfar and Brechin, as well as at Bridge of Dee in the south of Aberdeen and Bridge of Don in the north, providing easy access to the large university populations in those areas of the city.
The initial service will see 20 services per day to Aberdeen, running almost 24/7, but Ember says it will be ‘soft launching’ some limited stop services ahead of the full service introduction. Fares are set at £15.50 when booked online, and can be booked up to departure for main stops, or 10 minutes before departure for request stops.
To accommodate the new route, the company has also made changes to stopping arrangements for southbound buses in Dundee, which will move to a new stop on Slessor Gardens, closer to the city centre and making for a quicker journey. Services to Edinburgh will also use a new stop in Corstorphine rather than the existing Edinburgh Zoo stop, and the Edinburgh terminus will move to a stop on George Street instead of neighbouring St Andrew Square, which Ember says has a shelter and next stop display, making it a more comfortable experience for users. Overnight services from Dundee to Glasgow will also now call at Perth city centre, along with existing daytime E3X express journeys, giving 10 coaches per day connecting Perth city centre with Glasgow.
