First Kernow has been successful in a competitive tender process to operate Truro park & ride for another three years. The operator has run the service for Cornwall Council for the last nine years and will continue to provide services from the two Truro park & ride sites at Langarth Park on the west of the city and Tregurra Park on the east following a recent tender exercise.
The operator will continue to provide a dedicated service, running every 10 minutes at peak times, to key locations in Truro, including the city centre and hospital. Ticket prices will remain the same.
Truro’s park & ride carries over 850,000 passengers per year, supporting Cornwall Council’s mission to achieve cleaner air as well as easing congestion in the city centre. Seven electric vehicles, funded through ZEBRA2 scheme, are expected to be delivered for the service during 2025 along with supporting charging infrastructure to replace the existing diesel fleet.
Working in collaboration with Cornwall Council, First Kernow says it will work to encourage more people to use the service. As part our desire to work closely with our communities, we’ll also be investing in projects in Truro, such as Tregurra Fields, as well as providing apprenticeships, and Real Living Wage employment opportunities.”
