Food manufacturer Heck is providing the minibus for local communities. HECK

Food company Heck, which produces a range of sausages and burgers from its Yorkshire farm, is supporting its local community with a new community bus. “After carrying out door-to-door deliveries during the pandemic, we found that many local people struggle to get around due to the lack of bus routes in the area. Our new community bus will transport people from villages near our factory in Bedale to markets in Northallerton to combat rural isolation and boost local trade,” the company says.

Jamie Keeble, one of the co-founders of the Kirklington-based company, explained: “It’s really good that we can give back a little bit to the community that has supported our business since we first started.” The bus can be booked to take groups on trips with a driver, or users can drive it themselves. “Our community bus is here whenever you need it,” the company says, adding that the bus made its first journey taking passengers from its home village of Kirklington for a day out in Masham.
