Golden Tours has added more Volvos to its fleet, and is marking four decades of business this year
Volvo Buses has delivered three new Volvo B8R MCV EvoTor coaches to London sightseeing and activity specialist Golden Tours at the same time as the operator gears up to celebrate 40 years of business. The new coaches join a fleet already heavily represented by Volvo, including existing EvoTors which work alongside Volvo B8L MCV EvoSeti double-deck buses and other open top models in typical London style.
Managing Director at Golden Tours Mikesh Palan says: “Volvo Buses has consistently proven to be a reliable and trusted partner for our business. Their vehicles deliver exceptional durability and provide the high-quality experience our passengers have come to expect from us. Celebrating our 40th year of service while expanding our fleet is a true privilege. We’re excited to continue building on this legacy for many years to come, with Volvo Buses remaining an integral part of the quality service we provide.”
The new Volvo MCV coaches are equipped with 53 seats, along with a centrally located sunken freshwater toilet that can be demounted to install additional seating, increasing capacity to 55. Passengers can stay connected with individual USB charging points, and a Bosch audiovisual system enhances the tour experience, delivering entertainment and information while on the road. The coaches are powered by Volvo’s D8K engine, producing up to 350hp and a peak torque of 1,585Nm, transferred to the wheels via a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission.
Golden Tours is well known for providing high quality sightseeing tours and day trips across London and other popular UK locations, including Stonehenge, the Cotswolds and Bath. Established in 1984, the company now has more than 40 years of experience in the industry and is partnered with the international brand, Gray Line. Look out for more on its 40 year anniversary in a future issue.
