Go-Ahead-owned Metrobus has announced a brand refresh which it says will begin rolling out across its fleet during the year. Residents of West Sussex, East Sussex, Kent and Surrey will see the new branding start to appear as its fleet of new hydrogen buses are introduced, the company says, and builds on the branding style established as part of the rebranding of its Fastway livery. The new image also marks the introduction of the company’s 34 new hydrogen buses, 12 of which are Fastway buses serving Fastway route 100.

The new livery closely reflects that already adopted for the Fastway services.

The brand update, a decade after the last one in 2015, aims to link the new designs of Fastway hydrogen buses with the overarching Metrobus brand, the company says, while also retaining the familiar Metrobus colours.

“The new livery makes reference to the hydrogen branding in both its design and colour palette, and serves as a huge step forward in unifying the liveries as we move closer to achieving our net zero targets, the company says. This is all just one part of a wider transformation as we set our efforts on a greener future and on bringing more benefits to local communities.”

The new hydrogen buses will continue to roll out alongside the brand refresh in 2025, with 11 new double deck hydrogen buses due to join the fleet. The company’s logo will also see a refresh, utilising what it calls an emboldened, impactful and accessible font, and incorporating the livery colours, including the angular yellow segment that has been adopted by the Metrobus ‘M’.

Managing Director at Metrobus Ed Wills said: “As we work towards achieving our net zero targets by investing in hydrogen, it is important that our brands reflect that. This refresh makes our Metrobus brand more consistent with the current Fastway liveries on our hydrogen buses and serves as a visual representation of our commitment to sustainable travel.”
