Ticketer Duck’s journey began at the NEC in Birmingham during Euro Bus Expo 2024, where the adorable rubber ducks were handed out to visitors to Ticketer’s quirky ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed booth. But while most ducks stayed in the UK on desks or shelves, one lucky duck embarked on a far more exciting journey – nearly 7,000 miles away, all the way to Singapore. Due to Singapore’s compact size, Ticketer Duck was able to visit all the attractions in a relatively short time; the mainland spans just 31 miles from east to west and 17 miles from north to south!

Its first stop in the city-state was the iconic Merlion Park, where it posed against the backdrop of the mythical Merlion, the official mascot of Singapore. This land-sea hybrid was first used as the logo for the Singapore tourism board in 1964, with its fish body symbolising Singapore’s roots as a fishing village known as Temasek, a Javanese term meaning ‘sea town,’ and the lion head reflecting Singapore’s original name, Singapura, which translates to ‘lion city.’

Right next door was the Esplanade theatre, colloquially referred to among locals as ‘the durians’ for its resemblance to the tropical fruit. Ticketer Duck seems completely unfazed by its sharp looking exterior though…

As the sun began to set over Marina Bay, the duck made its way down the bustling Orchard Road, Singapore’s main shopping district, stopping for photos mere steps away from the rush hour traffic. How brave!

Ticketer Duck’s grand adventure is a charming reminder of how a small gift can carry big memories. Who knows where it will venture next? I mean, it somehow ended up in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui before returning to the UK!
