TransMach has started 2025 with the deployment of almost 200 contactless ticketing machines to Scottish Citylink, which represents the smart ticketing specialist’s biggest single customer order for its fixed and mobile ETMS.
In a major upgrade to Scottish Citylink’s ticketing hardware, TransMach’s TM500 fixed ETMs and TM920 Pro mobile machines have been installed on its fleet of coaches. All machines accept contactless payments, ITSO smartcards and QR codes generated by travel apps and booking systems, and the new ETMs are integrated with the company’s booking system, allowing drivers to access the manifest directly through the ETM interface, eliminating the need for paper-based manifests. The system also features real time passenger information (RTPI), accessible via a separate tracking link, allowing passengers to view estimated arrival times in real-time.
Furthermore, TransMach’s Cloud based back-office system enables operators to produce analytical reports for different metrics over an unlimited timeframe, including revenue, schedule adherence, passenger loading and service performance. Commenting on the deal, TransMach Director Minesh Vandra said: “We were very proud to be selected by Scottish Citylink for such an important upgrade to its onboard ticketing system. As well as supplying the machines, TransMach is focused on helping the business make efficiencies in cost and time through our cloud-based asset management service, which will add value to Scottish Citylink’s operation moving forward.”
Managing Director for megabus and Citylink Simone Walsh added: “TransMach has been an invaluable partner in enhancing our ticketing operations. Their flexibility in adapting to our unique requirements and proactive approach to resolving challenges has been exemplary. The team’s dedication to providing prompt and effective solutions has ensured a seamless experience for both our staff and passengers. We are delighted to work with such a reliable and forward-thinking company.”
