The owners of Shaws of Maxey have agreed to sell the business, having previously announced its closure due to retirement

Following the recent news from Shaws of Maxey that it would close to allow the owners to retire, the company says it is delighted to be able to announce that a take-over deal has been agreed with fellow independent operator Reg’s Coaches of Welwyn, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1962, Reg’s has been run by Joanna Bonnett since 2023. She commented “I am delighted that the move has been strongly backed by current staff who have agreed to join us on this exciting new journey. For us, this presents the perfect opportunity to branch out into the holiday and day trip market whilst expanding on our already strong coach hire offering, alongside a team that have a wealth of experience and well-established connections. Shaws’ has a wonderful reputation locally and this is something that we plan to build upon.”

“We are confident that customers will receive the same high standards of service for which we are so well renowned, and that staff will continue to enjoy a secure and rewarding working environment,” said Shaw’s in a statement. “We wish Joanna all the very best as she embarks on this exciting road ahead, taking Shaws to the next generation of travellers whilst keeping our current client base close at heart.”
