GERMANY Daimler Buses has delivered an unusually-branded Mercedes Benz eCitaro G electric bus to German operator go.on. The ‘KlimaWandelBus’ has been designed with with a special interior and exterior which shows passengers how climate change happens and what consequences it has.

The bus, which will be used in regular service as well as being used as an information centre at special events and schools, is a project by the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Hills Nature Park that aims to bring the topic of climate change to the attention of the general public. Two information modules have been installed in the front section for the visual and audio transmission of information. Passengers and visitors are guided through the field of climate research via touchscreen monitors and intuitive menu navigation.

The actual passenger compartment impressively shows what is currently possible in terms of individualisation options in bus construction; passengers sit on seats with real wood covering, for example, and the floor covering is printed with a forest floor structure, with a grass effect in the aisle. The side walls also feature large printed areas displaying forest motifs with trees, and the ceiling is printed with a blue sky effect.
