
Last week CBW reported on the launch of Xplore Dundee’s 12 new Yutong U11DD electric buses. In the second part of his feature, Richard Walter asks CEO Tony Williamson and Area Director for McGill’s Scotland North Stephen Riggans more about the company’s future plans for Dundee and beyond
Picking up our conversation which began with the introduction of the company’s latest batch of electric buses in Dundee, McGill’s CEO Tony Williamson spoke of the challenges in maintaining timetables in Dundee and supporting drivers who had to deal with the understandable frustration and complaints from passengers. “We find from time to time there are difficult road closures to contend with,” he said, “but we try to manage these situations the best we can. However, it is difficult because we understand that, if the bus is late, the driver is the person that gets the blame. So it has a significant impact if you’re not managing your staff and you’re not obviously motivating them and leading them the right way.”
