Busworld returns to Brussels in October with a conference programme centered around the adoption of zero-emission buses, building on the 2023 event. BUSWORLD EUROPE

BELGIUM Organisers say that the planned European Zero Emission Bus Conference at Busworld Europe 2025, to be held in Brussels in October, will again bring together transport operators and authorities, policymakers, manufacturers, and industry experts to discuss the decarbonisation of private and public transport. Building on the feedback from the 2023 conference, ZEB 2025 will offer more in-depth technical content and a programme designed to give operators, transport authorities and local policymakers a complete overview of the considerations for deploying zero-emission fleets at scale, alongside a forum for stakeholders to share their knowledge based on their experience of ZEB deployment. During the opening session, speakers will reflect on the topic of ‘shaping the future: zero-emission bus market trends and policy support’ with discussions which focus on the status of the European ZEB sector, review EU measures that facilitate bus decarbonisation, and assess how deployment is progressing relative to EU targets, as well as considering which regional bus routes in Europe are hardest to electrify, when hydrogen can become competitive and why decisions are not always based on cost alone.

A second session will reflect upon organisational changes and the real-world performance of zero-emission buses, using combined operational experience to look at battery and fuel cell buses’ performance and strategy, experience, including analysis of performance metrics, and considerations in decision-making.

This will be followed by a session looking at infrastructure issues, including maintenance costs, operational performance, and charging equipment.

A fourth session will reflect on the financial barriers to the deployment of ZEB fleets and explore strategies and insights for creating a compelling business case to do so efficiently and sustainably. Organisations that wish to partake in the sessions are invited to get in touch with the organisers through the Busworld Europe website.
