Saturday, September 28 saw Plymouth Citybus showcase its new premium service which started running on October 5 between Tavistock and Plymouth, seven days a week.
The four ADL Enviro400s make up a £1m investment by Plymouth Citybus in the fleet which services route 12.
The showcase and unveiling of the buses was held on the Piazza in Plymouth City Centre. The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr Vivian Pengelly and the Tavistock Town Mayor, Cllr Harry Smith. The cutting of a cake made by local cake company Mr Buns, replicating one of the buses, kicked off the day.
The new double deck buses feature leather seating, increased legroom, on board free WiFi and more designated space for buggies and wheelchairs. The buses are also wrapped in City Bus’ new brand ‘Blue Flash’, which was designed by local creative agency Bluestone 360.
With the expansion to Tavistock, Plymouth Citybus has introduced a new zone to cover the area. Dayrider tickets are priced at £4.20, seven day tickets are priced at £18 and monthly tickets £59. Citybus have also introduced Child / Student tickets at £3.50, £15 and £50 respectively, available to those 18 and under or 22 and under in full time education. All the above tickets are available via many channels, including the Plymouthbus mobile ticket app for smart phones.
Passengers who just want to travel on the ‘Blue Flash’ route can purchase a seven day ticket for £15. This allows seven days travel on the ‘Blue Flash’ service only.
