The services provide 15 dedicated coach parking spaces and a filling station which is open 24 hours a day
Cornwall Services has officially opened in Roche, on the A30 (near Bodmin). The £12.5m development, employing 200 people, is the first major service station in Cornwall and the only services on the A30 between Exeter and Penzance. It is located at the Victoria Interchange junction on the A30, less than 10 minutes from Bodmin.
Facilities include a filling station, a main amenity building with food and drink concessions, some retail outlets including WH Smiths, a cash point, WiFi, car parking for 230 cars, and dedicated bays for HGVs (18), coaches (15) and caravans (15). There is also a charging point for electric cars, free air, and coach and truck drivers have a dedicated washroom block.
The amenity building will be open from 0600 to 2300hrs and the filling station will be open 24 hours a day.
Asked about incentives for drivers, a spokesperson told CBW: “We are planning to offer incentives to drivers – these are being agreed at the moment.”
Phase two of the development will see the addition of a 70-bed hotel with a restaurant and a dedicated Tourist Information Centre. Work on phase two will start this year and is due to be completed in 2015.

Mark Upton, Development Manager of the scheme, said: “It’s fantastic to now see the services complete and to open the doors to our first visitors. We wanted to give anyone passing through on their way to Cornwall a relaxing environment to stop and refresh and benefit from all the services and amenities they would typically expect. However, at the same time we wanted to welcome them to Cornwall with a little taste of what is to come.”
