Custom to close in Adelaide

According to local press reports, Custom Coaches, the Australian body-builder that Alexander Dennis placed into voluntary administration in May, is to close its Adelaide operation. Around 75 people are employed at the factory.

Custom’s Sydney business is to continue and administrator Deloitte indicated when it was appointed that it intended to seek a sale as a going concern.

The South Australian Government is a year into a five-year contract for supply of buses for the Departments of Transport and Education. “We’re informed by the administrators that they will still provide those vehicles but that they may be subcontracting to do that,” said Manufacturing Minister Susan Close.
