A new dedicated tourism service introduced to take in the key sites of Falkirk has carried 15,000 passengers since launching as a pilot in April.
The Scottish Government-funded service to support the Falkirk area’s major tourism drive has been busy helping visitors and locals make the connection between tourist attractions and other road and rail services over the summer season.
The bus provides an hourly service and is funded by Transport Scotland and operated by First Midland Bluebird. The service aims to increase accessibility to major attractions while encouraging as many visitors as possible to use public transport.
Traveling on The Loop is free for those aged over 60 with a valid Scottish Government issued concessionary travel pass and for children aged under five years old. For others, an all-day ticket for the service costs £5, with a £12 family ticket for four, and can be used across other local Midland Bluebird services.
Paul McGowan, First Midland Blue Managing Director, said: “As the local bus operator, we’ve invested over £5.1m on new and improved buses for the area and these ‘The Loop’ vehicles represent further great news for our passengers.
“I’m sure it will continue to go from strength to strength.”
