Paul Dipper, described as a ‘back room boy’ responsible for much of the success of Capital Citybus in the 1990s, has died.
Paying tribute, Peter Newman from Ensignbus told CBW: “I first got to know Paul when he worked for Southend Transport in the 70s. He then came to work for us in the Ensignbus office, and like all of us he did a little bit of everything, including driving.
“When we sold our London Transport operations to Citybus in Hong Kong, which later became Capital Citybus, he transferred there with it. This was later bought by Leon Daniels who then sold it to First Bus. When First sold out in London, he went with the business to Tower Transit.
“He was with the same operation for all that time, albeit under different ownership.
“Paul was a very nice, honest, friendly and reliable person, with a good sense of humour. He had time for anyone and never had a bad word to say about anybody. It is a very sad loss.”
