Bay of Biscay town benefits from two more Irizar manufactured i2e electric buses
SPAIN Two more Irizar i2e electric buses have entered service in San Sebastian joining a third vehicle introduced in July 2014. The buses are being operated by Dbus on route 26 which links Amara with Martutene along the banks of the Urumea (Riberas, Loiola, Txomin and Martutene).
The silent, zero emission buses have a range of over 200Kms. Their sodium-nickel batteries provide power to an electric motor delivering torque of 1,500Nm and 180kW of power. The vehicles regenerate braking energy as electricity, extending the life of the batteries.
Irizar says that work has taken place on both the exterior and interior design of the buses in order to convey the commitment to sustainability and to environmentally responsible public transport. Their interiors have features that enable passengers to feel and enjoy the benefits provided and include USB ports enabling electronic devices to be charged free of cost while travelling.
In addition, Irizar has installed a smart charging station developed by JEMA (an Irizar Group company), which automatically manages the night-time charging process.
