On Friday November, 18 Stagecoach West will officially launch it’s new £3m fleet of Gold Buses, due to serve route 94 from Cheltenham to Gloucester.
The fleet of twelve Enviro 400 double-decker buses all feature the latest Euro 6 engines and start-stop technology, to reduce harmful emissions. The plush new fleet will see passengers sat in the lap of luxury, with leather seats, free WiFi and USB charging points.
The twelve Gold Buses will replace the original fleet for route 94 and those older vehicles will be distributed to other depots in the surrounding areas.
Rupert Cox, Managing Director for Stagecoach West said to The Gloucestershire Echo: “These will certainly be the most expensive buses in Gloucester and it signals a big investment into the county. These particular buses will be among the most hi-tech anywhere in the country.”
“The buses really are amazing. The leather seats are really comfortable and feature great legroom. The added creature comforts such as free WiFi and USB charging points mean that you can make use of your time on the bus whether relaxing on the internet or catching up on emails.
“Our main competition is people using their cars; we have to keep pace with what is happening with cars to compete. We need to offer something that cars can’t, for example, if people can stream TV, check emails and check Facebook on a bus now which they can’t do in a car.”
To celebrate the launch Stagecoach West will be hosting a public event in Cheltenham Promenade. Golden Tickets will be distributed to lucky passers-by in Cheltenahm High Street, giving them a free spin on the Stagecoach Spinner that guarantees everyone a prize. There will also be street performers, games and competitions and minibuses for children to play on.
