London is to lose another coach park at the end of next month. Tesco Kensington coach park, located on Warwick Road, has been confirmed to close next year, a Tesco employee confirmed to CBW.
The coach park’s last day of operation is January 31 2017. Tesco sold the plot of land its store is located on last year to Meyer Bergman, a privately held specialist real estate investment management firm.
The Tesco Kensington store is currently leased by Tesco and the plot of land the coach park is located on will be used for residential housing, a source told CBW.
Reacting to the news, Peter Bradley, Director of Administration and Development for the London Tourist Coach Operators Association, told CBW: “We are disappointed to hear of the proposal by the developer to close the Warwick Road Coach Park from the end of January next year.
“It is strategically placed for those of our members who provide transport to the South Kensington Museums and its loss will undoubtedly make it more challenging for arranging these trips in the future, many of which are for educational purposes.
We are resolved to redouble our efforts to work with Transport for London and other public bodies to ensure that no further coach parks are lost in London and indeed continue to lobby for additional facilities.”
