Go-Ahead London Operations Director, David Cutts has been in the industry for over 30 years. He had this experience of working in London to draw on when he went out to guide Go-Ahead Singapore in September 2016 – culturally and politically a very different challenge, more than 6,700 miles from home – and he retains overall responsibility for it, travelling back and forth on a regular basis. He talks to Andy Izatt about his career and working in the Far East which he found to be both an enlightening and rewarding experience
David Cutts is Go-Ahead London Operations Director, but he only returned to the UK in April to take up his old job again after spending 18 months as Managing Director of Go-Ahead Singapore where he was tasked with ensuring the start-up operation’s success. He’s very clear that working in such a different business environment required an open mind and a sense of cultural acceptance.
“What I’ve learnt over the years is the importance of questioning everything,” explained David. “Not to have preconceived notions of what is right and wrong. Always allow yourself to be convinced, but at the same time be open to better or different ways of doing things. […]
