Megan Cooke, who is aged 19 and currently Dolphin Travel’s Transport Manager, passed her D1 driving test on 27 September.
Megan said of the experience: “I wasn’t that nervous, I was pretty alright with it. I’m excited about it because it’s something new I can do.”
She said that with her test passed she plans on driving more for the company, and that looking forward she might even sit a test for a D license.
“I might go in for the big one, I’ve had a lesson already,” Megan commented.
Megan said that the driving work she takes on is likely to be for schools, saying: “Probably just schools and universities. I was driving for a school in an eight seater, but now I’ll be doing it in a bigger vehicle.”
Megan trained for and sat her test in a Ford Transit 16-seater and it was a first time pass.
This has been a successful year for Megan as earlier this year she passed her Transport Manager CPC test.
She spoke of the experience, saying: “I went to Birmingham for a couple of weeks where I went on a course. It was me and a teacher for the two weeks and I had the test at the end of it. I had to wait about two or three months and then I found out at the start of January that I’d passed!”
Megan has been planning to join the family business for quite some time now, commenting: “For a fair while now I have wanted to get involved with the business, probably since I was 15 or 16.”
