POLAND
Solaris Bus & Coach has signed a contract with Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej (PKM), a local transport operator in Katowice, for the delivery of 25 diesel-powered Urbino 12 city buses.
The manufacturer has 330 days to process the order, which means that the first vehicles will reach the Silesian city in December 2019.
Included in the specification is air-conditioning, a video monitoring system with external and internal cameras and a recorder, and a passenger information system adapted to the needs of the visually impaired. That means there are Braille buttons.
Buses will be equipped with energy-saving LED lighting including the additional, external lighting over the second and third doors characteristic of the PKM fleet.
There will also be free WiFi and USB ports where passengers will be able to charge their mobile devices.
Solaris has been working with the PKM in Katowice since 2002 since when it has delivered nearly 140 vehicles to the city.
In addition to buses using a traditional power source, they include two mobile ambulances for blood donation used by the Regional Center of Blood Donation and Blood Treatment.
These vehicles are powered by electricity.
Recently, the delivery to PKM of five zero-emission Solaris Urbino 18 electrics has also started as part of a contract signed in December 2017.
