A large transport operation has quietly been working away since 2016 in Somerset, using anonymous white buses and coaches to transfer workers to the Hinkley Point C construction site. Richard Sharman takes a look at the operation

Somerset Passenger Solutions LTD (SPS) was formed in June 2016 as a joint 50/50 venture between First Group, under the South West division, and JJP Holdings for the purpose of transporting the staff and site visitors to the Hinkley Point C Project (HPC).

EDF Energy is building two new nuclear reactors at HPC in Somerset, which will be the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low-carbon energy for around six million homes and creating 25,000 new jobs.
