Paul O’Neil, the new face at the helm of Arriva’s UK Bus business, speaks to James Day about his early impressions of the industry and what he brings to the role

Paul O’Neil joined Arriva as its UK Bus Managing Director in March of this year, following a long career in aerospace with Rolls Royce.

Paul’s background is in aeronautical engineering. He is an engineer by education and was sponsored through university by Rolls Royce. He was then employed by Rolls Royce and had been with the company for his entire career prior to joining Arriva.

“I think my engineering background is very useful in the bus industry,” Paul said.

After joining Rolls Royce as an engineer for a number of years, Paul then moved into operations, running progressively larger operations and business units.
