The first right-hand-drive, fully-electric coach, the Yutong TCe12, looks set to be one of the stars of Coach & Bus UK at the NEC in October. With the first three due to go to Westway Coaches of London, coach tourism specialist Stuart Render wonders whether coach tour operators could soon be following suit

It’s a busy summer weekday at Blandford Castle in Dorset. In the coach park, a line of eight coaches are hooked up to electric charging points. Blandford Castle, working to the government’s new guidance on charging infrastructure, offers six 120kWh DC fast charging points. These will fully charge most coaches in around two hours. To use the system, operators must book a charging time slot in advance.
