Camira may have a long history in the transport fabrics sector, but it continues to focus on the future. John Lewis spoke to the firm’s Transport Design Manager to find out more

Board a coach or bus and you want to step into a welcoming environment. The materials used to upholster the seats have a key role to play here, and moquette still dominates says Ciara Crossan, Transport Design Manager at fabric maker Camira Fabrics.

“It’s robust and hides the dust because it simply sinks into the pile,” she observed. “Although flat woven fabrics are growing in popularity because of their sleek aesthetics, the hardwearing capabilities of moquette mean that it will always be a classic choice for transport.”
