Karsan has received €90 million worth of orders for the Citymood this year

Turkish manufacturer Karsan has delivered 227 Menarinibus Citymood buses to the Italian capital in the space of just five months.

The Citymood buses were manufactured in Karsan’s Bursa factory as part of its partnership with Industria Italiana SpA (‘IIA’), in which Karsan holds 28.6% of the shares. Karsan delivered the 227 buses, a mix of 10- and 12-metre diesel and CNG buses, for public service in Rome in just five months.

Karsan CEO Okan Baş stated that including this order, Karsan received orders for the Citymood worth €90m in 2019 and that it will manufacture more than 500 Citymood buses by the end of the year. “Since our collaboration with IIA, our export of Citymood buses will exceed 1,000 units by this year’s end,” he said. “Our vehicles currently in use at the Municipality of Rome operate 20 hours a day, every day of the week with 99% serviceability at full performance without interruption. This shows that we provide a huge added value to the Municipality in terms of profits,” he said.

In Rome, which hosts approximately 7.2 million tourists every year, IIA undertakes all the maintenance, repair and aftersale services for the 227 Menarinibus Citymood buses.
