Contrasting operators have praised a classic Scania bus type still in service after almost 20 years, reports Nick Larkin

Go North East (GNE) held a farewell event in December for its last Wright-bodied Scania L94s. The first, fleet number 4926, entered entered service in March 2001 and the fleet grew to a total of 87 of the type, including four articulated Solar Fusions, the last of which entered service in 2006. By the time of the event, based at Saltmeadows depot on December 15, the fleet had been reduced to seven operating in and around Gateshead and 11 in nearby Sunderland.
