Nottingham City Transport is to introduce a number of additional services from Sunday 31 May, providing extra capacity for potential increases in demand as more people return to work and current government restrictions are gradually lifted.
Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Marketing Manager, said: “Bus users in Nottingham have followed the government’s advice exceptionally well in recent months. The number of people travelling on our buses has been 90% lower throughout lockdown and was broadly the same last week, even after the Prime Minister’s announcement on 10 May. We are conscious though that as restrictions may relax further in the next few weeks, we need to provide some additional capacity.”
The additional services are as follows:
- Green 7: City to Gamston via West Bridgford Central Avenue
- Green 8: City to Wilford Hill and Compton Acres via West Bridgford Central Avenue
- Green 11: City to Lady Bay via The Meadows
- Brown 16: City to Rise Park via Hucknall Road and City Hospital
- Lilac 25: City to Arnold via Carlton, Westdale Lane and Mapperley
- Pink 30: City to Wollaton Vale via Ilkeston Road and Bramcote Moor
- Lime 56: City to Arnold via Sherwood and Plains Estate
- Lime 59: City to Arnold via Arnold
- Purple 87: City to Arnold via Sherwood and City Hospital
Improvements will also be made to existing services:
- Navy 48X between City, The Meadows, Queens Drive and Clifton will double in frequency to run every 30 minutes during the daytime and an hourly evening service will be introduced
- Turquoise 79 will be reinstated between Bulwell and Arnold via Rise Park, Top Valley and Bestwood Park every hour during the daytime
- Some early morning journeys on Orange 36, Red 44, Navy 49X and Turquoise 77 will operate with another bus in tandem to allow customers to space out
